1964 Porsche 356 C £160,000
The Porsche 356 was Porsche’s first ever production car. It was produced from 1948 and was available in coupe and soft top formations. Its simple four-cylinder air-cooled rear engine was perfect for both fun street driving and competitive racing. Throughout the 356’s life it saw 4 generation changes, starting from the standard 356. Next was the A, the B and finishing with the C. Introduced in 1964, the last version of the 356, the C, introduced disc brakes all around and three engine options ranging from 90hp to 170hp.
This particular 356 C is a stunning soft top variant originally sold in California in 1964 and has since been imported to the UK in 1997. It has larger pistons (85.5mm) and benefits from the 1720cc engine upgrade – up from original 1600. The car is in fantastic condition and is presented in the striking combination of white ivory paintwork together with red leather interior. This matched with its wooden steering wheel and original radio makes for a very desirable example.
Original parts that come with this car include its spare wheel, jack, air compressor and tool kit. The history file details a long history of MOT certificates, the original handbook in its leather pouch, historic photographs and more files such as servicing slips and a magazine feature. This it a well-equipped example of a stunning classic, with the C being the later car featuring the best list of features and better performance out of the entire range of 356s.
