1987 Ducati 851 SP
Ducati launched their new 4-valve L-twin 851 engine in 1987. This was water-cooled, as air-cooled rivals in racing had reached their limits and something all-new was required to beat them. This created a high-revving 122hp 90-degree V-Twin monster, which was still narrow enough for unmatched aerodynamics. Twinned with its 6-speed manual gearbox, it created a performance legend. Features included Ohlins adjustable monoshock rear suspension, a 42mm Marzocchi M1R adjustable front fork and Brembo dual front discs.
The bike was extensively restored in 2005 with a documented photograph album alongside its service history. This bike is number 096 and was imported from Italy to the UK in 2017. It has incredibly covered only 216km since its restoration. Present is the Automobile Club D’Italia certificate of ownership and original Italian licencing and registration documents. Additionally is a full documented service history from its time in the UK from 2017.
