2003 Porsche 911 ‘996’ GT3
The GT3 suffix was a name reserved for the FIA GT3 racing class. Launched at the 1999 Geneva Motor Show, the 996 GT3 was the first Porsche 911 road car to bear the legendary title. As the first ever road-going GT3, the 996 was a special piece in Porsche history. Additionally, the whole 996 generation was one to go down in history. Not only was it the only generation not to use the typical round headlight design, but it was also the first generation to do without air cooling.
The water-cooled GT3 benefited from an all-new 3.6 litre flat-six, up from 3.4, based on the super 911 GT1. This produced 360bhp and took the car from 0-60mph in 4.7 seconds. The GT3 was also given the GT2 race car’s six-speed manual gearbox, a lower ride height with firmer springs and new anti roll bars. The brakes were upgraded and new aerodynamic wings and light 18-inch wheels were fitted.
This car has been factory fitted with a racing roll cage by XSL, and is very low mileage for its age. It is finished in Arctic Silver with black leather interior with yellow details, and yellow brake callipers to match. Air con, full service history, stamped service book and driver’s handbook, plus spare key included. 2 former keepers shown on V5. Now is your time to own the first of a legend.
