TGS Interstellar Overdrive

TGS Motorcycles is the brainchild of German technician and designer, Tobias Guckel. As an experienced car and motorcycle mechanic, and motorcross rider, he specialises in the construction of custom bikes, as well as workshop repairs and conversions. TGS are based in the Bavarian town of Rappenhof in Germany and have been operating since 1998.
The unique bike you see here is one of their most well-known bikes, and has grown to be a rather famous creation from within the industry thanks to its 2009 win in the Custom Chrome Motorcycle class in the 2009 AMD (American Motorcycle Dealer) European Championship. It was built by TGS in 2008 and was made using inspiration from, and named after, Pink Floyd’s psychedelic improvisation from 1966, Interstellar Overdrive. The design of the bike features retro Interstellar Overdrive logos and pinstripe graphics hand-painted by Marcus Pfeil of Pfeil Design. These red and cream coloured details contrast against the light blue paintwork to create a striking finish.
The engine involved is an 88-cui RevTech V-Twin, cast from 356-T6 Aluminium, alongside RevTech’s 5-speed drivetrain. The frame started out as a Santee frame, then modified by TGS to create this custom chopper. It has a springer front end with a 38-degree rake, with 10” PM brakes on the front and K-Tech sprocket brakes on the rear. This is a purely unique custom chopper with handmade arches, fuel tank & cap, seat, oil tank, foot-pegs, exhaust, taillight, electrics and more. This bike has never been ridden, only maintained to be shown on display, making it very apparent to see how this custom creation won its class and became such a renowned example of TGS Motorcycles’s work.
